#Water & Maintenance

The Town of Blades has a municipal water system that services over 450 homes and businesses. The Water Department is responsible for providing quality water, maintenance of water systems, and installation and billing for water customers.

#Streets

The Streets Department consists of a two street maintenance personel. They are responsible for maintaining all roadways owned by the Town of Blades.

Potholes are caused when the pavement or the material underneath it, called the base or subbase, cannot support the weight of the traffic it carries. Two factors are always present in such a failure: water and traffic. Freeze and thaw cycles cause cracking in the pavement allowing penetration of moisture into the base and subbase causing fatigue that will not support heavy traffic.

The Street Department repairs potholes year round. Potholes are patched with either temporary or permanent filling, depending on the season. Potholes that are patched temporarily during winter months will be permanently filled beginning in the Spring.

Please report potholes on Town roads by calling (302) 629-7366. Please call the State Highway Department (DelDOT) at (302) 855–1111 to report potholes on State Roads.

The Streets Department works during inclement weather to assure the safety and clearance of all Town roads for the use of emergency vehicles and residents. Town roads in need of additional snow or ice removal can be reported by calling (302) 629-7366. State roads in need of additional snow or ice removal can be reported to DelDOT at (302) 855-1111. Your patience is greatly appreciated while we work to clear the town roads.

#Parks and Cemetery

There are currently two parks in the Town of Blades, Blades Park and Triangle Park. They are maintained by the Parks and Cemetery Department for the use and enjoyment of the public. These parks owned by the Town of Blades are open to the general public during normal park hours. Facilities are used on a first come, first served basis unless a reservation or permit has been previously approved and issued. Reservations can be made for special occasions for a fee. For more information and available dates, please call (302) 629-7366.

Reserved times give the permit holder priority use of the park property only during times designated on the approved permit. If the permit holder is not using the park property during the reserved time, it reverts back to general public use.

The Town does operate a cemetery, and more information on lot reservations, and procedures can be obtained by calling the Town Hall at (302) 629-7366.

#Planning and Zoning

The Town of Blades Police Department has set forth an aggressive agenda for increasing the quality of protection and community service we provide to our residents, guests and business owners. As always, we seek to improve upon our track record of quality and integrity to ensure that the public receives the highest value for their investment in our police officers and our organization. Many of our activities and achievements would not be possible without the support and hard work of the entire Blades Team. The officers of our police department and volunteers from the community consistently provide dedicated and professional services, and exhibit the highest standards of excellence expected by the citizens of Blades. We are continually working to build a strong foundation for a community that we can all be proud to be a part of, now and in the years ahead.
